On November 16, 2007, Paul H. Amundsen gave a one hour presentation
on “Expert Witnesses: Preparation and Examination” for the Florida Bar’s
Administrative Law Section’s annual seminar on Practicing Before the Division
of Administrative Hearings.
Board Certification -- We are pleased and proud to announce
that Paul H. Amundsen is one of only 56 Florida lawyers whom The Florida
Bar certified in November 2007 as specialists in the newly-established
state and federal government and administrative practice specialty, the
first area of its kind in the U.S. Certified attorneys are the only
Florida lawyers allowed to identify or advertise themselves as specialists
or experts. Certification is the highest level of evaluation by The
Florida Bar of the competency and experience of attorneys in areas of law
approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. Board
certification evaluates attorneys’ special knowledge, skills and proficiency
in various areas of law and professionalism and ethics in practice.
On October 23, 2006 Paul gave a presentation at the Florida Air &
Waste Management Association’s Annual Conference and Trade Show in Jacksonville,
Florida. His topic was “Legal Defense Update – Lawsuits Under the
Clean Air Act”
In August 2005, Julie Smith became a partner in the firm and the firm
changed its name to Amundsen & Smith.
In July 2005, Julie Smith co-presented a Legal Overview of AHCA Regulation
of ALF’s: Navigating the Sometimes Rough Seas of Licensure and Enforcement,
at the Florida Health Care Association / Florida Assisted Living Affiliation
Joint Annual Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In June 2005, Paul Amundsen presented a paper at the Air & Waste
Management Association International Conference and Trade Show, Minneapolis,
on Stipulated Penalties in Consent Decrees under the Clean Air Act.
Paul Amundsen presented a two-hour seminar lecture on “Preparing for
an Effective Deposition.” The Continuing Legal Education seminar
was sponsored by Lorman Educational Services and was held on March 18,
2005 in Tallahassee, Florida.
In October, 2004, Julie Smith co-presented a New Source Review Enforcement
Update at the Florida Air & Waste Management Annual Conference in Orlando,
Florida.
In June 2004, Paul Amundsen presented a paper at the Air & Waste
Management Association International Conference and Trade Show in Indianapolis,
on how the Statute of Limitations can be used as a Defense in New Source
